AURORA, Colo.—Tamra “Tammie” Tate, a former editor of The Aurora Sentinel who also worked for the Tulsa World, died Friday after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 67.

Tate worked for newspapers and in television for almost 40 years before going to work for the Jefferson County, Colo., library system, where she recently retired.

She was born in Kansas City, Mo., and moved with her family to Colorado Springs, where she attended high school. She received a master’s degree in communication from the University of Denver.

She is survived by a daughter, Alysia Tate of Chicago, and a brother, Edward T. Wood of Bandon, Ore.

A service is planned Sunday in Denver.
