A meth production lab and a psilocybin mushroom growing operation in Coal Creek Canyon in the foothills northwest of Denver were dismantled Tuesday by the Boulder County Drug Task Force.

Tommy Sloan, task force commander, said the operation was in a mountain home in the canyon, which is at the southwest edge of Boulder County.

He said the methamphetamine lab was not presently in production.

However, measurable amounts of meth, chemicals associated with producing meth, and production equipment were seized by the task force.

The items were tested, catalogued and turned over to a hazardous materials handling company under contract with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

He said the investigation is ongoing.

Involved in the effort were the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department; the DEA; the Boulder County Hazardous Material Response Team staffed by the Longmont Fire Department, the Coal Creek Fire Department and Pridemark Ambulance; and the Department of Social Services.
