ARLINGTON, Texas — The NFL is giving Adam “Pacman” Jones another chance.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday the suspended cornerback has been reinstated by league commissioner Roger Goodell but must miss two more games — this Sunday and the following game on Thanksgiving. He will be back Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh.

“He’s a long way, a long way from having clear sailing,” Jerry Jones said.

Adam Jones was suspended from the entire 2007 season because of multiple incidents while with the Titans. During the offseason, he was traded to Dallas and then given another chance by Goodell. The Cowboys gave him a security team to help keep him in line, but on Oct. 7, Jones got into an alcohol-related scuffle with one of the bodyguards during a private party. Jones, suspended indefinitely Oct. 14, spent part of his time away undergoing alcohol rehabilitation.

The Cowboys will no longer be providing bodyguards.

Meanwhile, receiver Terrell Owens left practice with flu-like symptoms and receiver and fill-in kick returner Miles Austin will be out for up to a month with a knee injury. Owens is expected to recover in time to play the 49ers on Sunday.

Vikings’ Allen fined $25K

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been fined $25,000 for a recent spate of late hits, but he won’t be suspended. He’s not planning to reduce his aggressiveness, either.

“Not at all. I will play football the way I play football, and that’s the way it is,” Allen said.

Portis vows to play Sunday

WASHINGTON — Redskins running back Clinton Portis said his knee is still sore, and although he remains limited in practice, he left no doubt he will play Sunday against the Seahawks.

“I’m playing this week, if that’s what you all want to know,” Portis said. “No ifs, ands, buts about it.”

Footnotes.

The Cardinals declined to consider releasing Edgerrin James when the running back’s agent inquired about the possibility, Arizona general manager Rod Graves said.

• The Buccaneers placed running back Earnest Graham, the team’s leading rusher with 898 yards, on injured reserve with an ankle sprain.

• The Seahawks placed defensive end Patrick Kerney (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending the season for Seattle’s top pass rusher.

• Browns tight end Kellen Winslow suffered a sprained right shoulder in Monday’s victory over the Bills, an injury unlikely to keep him out for an extended period.

• The Saints placed tailback Aaron Stecker (hamstring) on injured reserve and agreed to a deal with former Broncos running back Mike Bell.

• The Bengals placed receiver Antonio Chatman (neck) on injured reserve.
