The Daniels Fund board said it has approved $8.5 million in grants this week to several nonprofits, including the Arapahoe House; the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless; Family Star; Qualistar Early Learning; Save Our Youth; Senior Hub; Denver Rescue Mission; and Harmony Foundation.
“As the economy continues to decline, demands placed on nonprofits continue to increase,” said Linda Childears, president and chief executive of the Daniels Fund. “We are delighted to support these nonprofit organizations that are so effective at helping people get through difficult times.”
The Daniels Fund, started by cable magnate Bill Daniels, expected to award $38 million in grants and $12 million in college scholarships this year.
