A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his father early this morning, authorities say.
Sean Fitzgerald surrendered to Colorado Springs police after he allegedly killed Edward M. Fitzgerald, 63, at 1349 Lindenrose Grove, according to Mark Stevens, a police spokesman.
Police were called to the Fitzgerald home on a report of a family fight at 2:21 a.m., according to Stevens.
Sean Fitzgerald is being held in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for investigation of first-degree murder, Stevens said.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy later today.
