Douglas County engineering and construction firm CH2M Hill said Friday it will eliminate 100 positions out of a global workforce of 26,000.

Although some of the company’s 12 business units, like energy, continue to do well, municipal governments are struggling to sell bonds to fund projects, said spokesman John Corsi.

The job reductions, which target support rather than field positions, are part of a larger belt-tightening by the company. The widening of the Panama Canal is among the high-profile projects the company is working on.
