LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Mike Smith put in a rebound with 6.9 seconds left to lift Arkansas-Little Rock to a 71-69 victory Tuesday night over Creighton.
Smith finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and scored 10 of the Trojans’ final 14 points.
UALR (4-0) led 2-0 at the start but did not lead again until Courtney Jackson scored with 2:05 left in the game for a 65-64 advantage. Creighton regained the lead at 66-65 but trailed 69-66 with 46.5 left after UALR’s Steven Moore hit a pair of free throws.
The Bluejays (3-1) tied the score on Booker Woodfox’s 3-pointer with 39.3 seconds left.
Matt Mouzy led the Trojans with 15 points and John Fowler and Jackson also had 10.
The Bluejays were led by Kenny Lawson Jr. with 15 points. Woodfox had 13 points and Cavel Witter added 11 points.
It was a first public appearance in Arkansas by Creighton’s Dana Altman since he accepted, then resigned the University of Arkansas job within 24 hours in April 2007.
