Aurora police found the body of a woman believed to have been murdered inside a Windsor Court Apartment on Monday, the department said today.
Family and friends of the apartment’s resident had not seen her in several days, but as of this afternoon, the woman found dead had not been positively identified as the occupant, according to a statement.
The Adams County coroner’s office will perform an autopsy, which will use fingerprints and other evidence to help establish her identity, said Aurora Detective Bob Friel.
“We’re still trying to confirm that this is the woman who lived there,” he said.
The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Investigation units found evidence of murder in the apartment at 10990 E. 16th Ave., but investigators aren’t yet publicizing how the woman died, Friel said.
