FORT CARSON, Colo.—More than 240 Fort Carson soldiers have returned just in time for Thanksgiving after 14 months of fighting in Iraq.
Members of the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment returned to the post just outside Colorado Springs on Wednesday and were treated to a joyous reunion with family members and friends.
In Iraq, the squadron flew patrols in OH-58 helicopters, helping ground troops spot roadside bombs and round up insurgents.
Two Fort Carson brigades totaling around 7,000 soldiers remain in Iraq.
