Line: Nebraska by 18.
Series Record: Nebraska leads 46-18-2.
Last Meeting: 2007, Colorado 65-51.
What’s at Stake
All these teams have left to play for is bowl positioning. Nebraska is a leading candidate for a spot in the Gator Bowl. Colorado must win to achieve bowl eligibility. Possible destinations, if the Buffs pull the upset, are the Independence, Insight or Texas bowls.
Key Matchup
Nebraska QB Joe Ganz vs. Colorado’s defense. Ganz has come on strong in his first, and what will be his only, year as starter. He’s flying under the radar in the QB-loaded Big 12, but he’s 95 yards from setting the school season passing record. Colorado is giving up a Big 12-low 219 yards passing a game, but FS Ryan Walters might not play because of knee and ankle sprains.
Players to watch
Colorado: QB Cody Hawkins needs to be at his best or his defensive teammates will be on the field a long time against a potent Nebraska offense. Hawkins split time with true freshman Tyler Hansen for four games before going distance against Oklahoma State on Nov. 15.
Nebraska: WR Nate Swift is about to break another of Johnny Rodgers’ records. Swift already has passed the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner’s career receptions mark. Swift comes into game 45 yards short of Rodgers’ career receiving yards record of 2,479.
