DENVER—Tyler Ruegsegger scored two power-play goals in the first period and Anthony Maiani tallied three assists as No. 9 Denver defeated Colgate 6-1 on Friday night.
Marc Cheverie stopped 29 shots in goal for Denver (8-5-1, 5-4-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association), which headed into intermission with a 4-1 lead.
Kyle Ostrow, Patrick Wiercioch, Patrick Mullen and Luke Salazar scored one goal each for the Pioneers.
David McIntyre had the only goal of the night for Colgate (4-5-2, 1-3-2 ECAC), while teammate Alex Evin posted a season-high 22 saves against the Pioneers.
The Raiders will play at Colorado College on Saturday night, while the Pioneers host Air Force.
