The FBI in Denver today asked for help in identifying the “JV Bandit,” who the agency says is suspected of robbing three metro-area banks.
He is believed to have robbed the US Bank at 1801 Jackson St. in Golden on Nov. 7. He also is suspected of robbing the Key Bank at 1224 Arapahoe St. in Golden on Oct. 14 and the Chase Bank at 14417 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood on Oct. 9.
During the Nov. 7 robbery, the robber passed a note to the teller demanding money, issued other commands and hid his hand inside his jacket as if he had a weapon, said the FBI.
After receiving the money, he fled the bank on foot.
As members of the Golden Police Department searched for the robber, three schools in the area were placed on lockdown.
Authorities dubbed him the JV Bandit because of the varsity- or letterman-type jacket he has worn during the robberies. The body of the jacket is dark with tan sleeves.
The man is 5-foot-6, with blond hair, and is between 25 and 30 years of age.
If anyone has any information about the suspect, they are asked to call the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force at 303-629-7171.
