PITTSBURGH — U.S. Steel Corp., the largest U.S.-based steelmaker, will cut output at three facilities because of a slump in demand, leaving about 3,500 workers temporarily laid off. Capacity will be idled at an iron-ore plant in Minnesota and at steel facilities near Detroit and St. Louis, the company said.
