Boulder County drug agents have seized 32 pounds of marijuana and arrested three men suspected of transporting the high-grade pot from California to Boulder.

The ring was selling the marijuana for $3,500 a pound, and had they sold it they would have made $112,000, said Boulder County Drug Task Force Commander Tommy Sloan.

Arrested were Robert Weldin, 47, of Lakeport, Calif., Kevin Reed, 45, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Timothy Dabrowski, 27, of Boulder.

The weed was grown indoors, assuring it would be high quality, and then transported to Colorado by truck, Sloan said.

“The quality and the packaging shows it would have to be hydroponic. Most outdoor operations really don’t turn out this quality of a product. The product that you see coming out of Mexico sells for about $1,000 a pound. This high-grade hydroponic is anywhere from $3,500 to $4,000. They put out a better product and people here are willing to pay for it.”

An ounce of the marijuana sells for between $350 and $400.
