DETROIT — After allowing a bad goal to give the Chicago Blackhawks the lead, Detroit’s Ty Conklin made sure to keep his composure in case the Red Wings fought back.
Turns out, that’s just what happened.
Pavel Datsyuk scored in a shootout to complete a comeback from a two-goal deficit and lift the Red Wings to a 5-4 win over the Blackhawks on Saturday night.
“Ty saved the game at the end. He made some key saves,” Detroit’s Marian Hossa said. “That’s what you need from your goalie.”
Valtteri Filppula had a goal and an assist and Hossa and Henrik Zetterberg also scored for Detroit. Dan Cleary had two assists and Conklin made 28 saves. He stopped Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane in the shootout.
“It was nice, especially after that third goal, to be able to battle through,” Conklin said.
