Thornton firefighters pulled a resident from a home at 9031 Emerson St. Saturday, when flames engulfed the house and downed power lines sparked along the ground outside.
The resident was taken to North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, but the name and condition was not available today.
According to the fire department, the flames gutted the kitchen and a bedroom, with smoke damage was heavy. The department arrived at 6:35 a.m. on Saturday and extinguished in 34 minutes.
The cause is under investigation.
