CYCLING

Ongoing

  •  Road rides each weekend in the south Denver area hosted by the Highlands Ranch Cycling Club; intermediate to advanced; two to five hours; helmet required; free.

  •  Mountain bike camps, private lessons and clinics with Better Ride; for recreation riders and racers; focus on core skills, balance, vision, cornering, energy management, obstacles, drops, etc.

  •  Road ride each Saturday morning led by the staff of Bicycle Pedal’r bike shops in Highlands Ranch; 20 to 30 miles; weather permitting; open to intermediate and advanced riders.

    Start of USASA Copper Mountain Series; at Copper Mountain; largest amateur snowboard series in North America; other series dates are Jan. 10-11, Jan. 23-25, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, Feb. 7-8, Feb. 21-22, March 1, March 8; competition in slalom, giant slalom, slopestyle, halfpipe, boardercross.

    Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade; holiday tradition at Copper Mountain; includes fireworks.

    Amputee High Adventure Weekend; in Crested Butte; camp includes two days of ski instruction and two days of professionally-guided ice climbing in Ouray; limited to nine participants; $485.
