UNITED NATIONS — Croatia’s leader took a swipe at the Bush administration Tuesday, telling a meeting on counterterrorism that a go-it-alone attitude in the United States had weakened the global fight against extremist groups.

President Stipe Mesic said that global solidarity with the U.S. had “deflated” because it seemed the war on terrorism had turned into “a kind of exclusive competence of one country, or of a group of countries which it led.”
