TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Florida officials are investigating complaints of price gouging against a Colorado fuel supplier after Hurricane Ike threatened the state in September.
Attorney General Bill McCollum and Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson said Tuesday their departments are jointly looking into complaints against TransMontaigne Inc., a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley Group Inc.
Retailers complained their wholesale prices increased by $1.60 a gallon overnight to more than $4.50.
A company spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Ike brushed by Florida before making landfall in Texas.
