BOSTON — Prosecutors say a former Massachusetts state senator and a Boston city councilor conspired to accept a bribe from a businessman in exchange for a liquor license.
A conspiracy charge was added Tuesday to an indictment against former state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson. She pleaded not guilty Monday to eight counts of attempted extortion for allegedly accepting $23,500 in bribes to help arrange the license.
Prosecutors say Wilkerson conspired on the deal with Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner. He was formally indicted Tuesday.
