DENVER—Roads have improved after a storm left roads icy and snow-packed in the Colorado mountains and along the Front Range.
Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Bob Wilson says most icy spots between Vail and Denver turned wet Tuesday afternoon. No major highways were closed because of the storm.
Chain laws have been lifted on two passes, and Red Mountain Pass between Ouray and Silverton on U.S. 550 has reopened.
The snowstorm dumped 5.6 inches in Denver and 9 inches in Boulder. The Snowmass ski resort reported 17 inches and the Genesee area west of Denver had a foot of snow.
Wilson says some of the few areas reporting dry conditions are Grand Junction and northeast Colorado.
Wilson says the storm was “in in a hurry, out in a hurry.”
