GOLDEN — A man convicted last September of killing two women about 20 years ago has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms.
Forty-nine-year-old Billy Edwin Reid was found guilty of murder and sexual assault in the deaths of 28-year-old Lanell Williams and 33-year-old Lisa Kelly. He was sentenced Thursday.
Williams had been sexually assaulted. Her body was found in Clear Creek Canyon in October 1989. She was identified shortly after the discovery, but investigators couldn’t find enough evidence to file charges.
Kelly’s body was found in March 1989 on Lookout Mountain but wasn’t identified until 2005, when cold case investigators took on the case. She had been buried as a Jane Doe.
Investigators linked Reid to the crimes using new DNA technology.
