AURORA, Colo.—Authorities say a man is recovering at a hospital after an officer shot him when he pointed a gun at police.

Aurora police have yet to release the man’s name but say he was shot once in the upper body Saturday morning after officers arrived at a home where he was threatening to kill himself. Police have not released the name of the officer who fired the shot. The officer was placed on administrative leave, which is normal procedure at police departments after shootings.

The shooting was the second in less than two weeks for Aurora police. On Dec. 2, an officer shot and killed an 18-year-old accused of pointing a gun at them as he ran away. Police say he was wanted for a Denver armed robbery.
