For the record: The Buffalo Bills are 6-8 and in last place in the AFC East.
Last week: The Bills lost 31-27 to the Jets after leading by three in the final minutes. Bills quarterback J.P. Losman was sacked and fumbled, and the Jets returned the fumble for a touchdown.
Who’s hot: Running back Marshawn Lynch started a bit slowly this season, but he has three 100-yard rushing performances in the past five games, including 127 yards against the Jets.
Who’s not: Starting QB Trent Edwards has a nagging groin injury, and Losman has been lackluster as Edwards’ replacement in two starts. Losman has thrown four interceptions — and just one touchdown — and has been sacked seven times in those two games.
Key stat: The Bills’ offense is scoring 21.9 points per game, and the defense is allowing the same number. For the offense, that statistic ranks No. 20 in the league, while the defense ranks No. 18.
FYI: The Bills started the season 4-0 but have won only two games since. Half of Buffalo’s wins have come against the AFC West.
Coachspeak: “That’s mine. That goes straight on me. It clearly caused us to lose the game.” — Bills coach Dick Jauron, accepting blame for calling the pass play on which Losman fumbled and the Jets scored
