ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Officials and a witness say a suspected U.S. missile strike has killed two people in a militant stronghold in Pakistan.
The Monday night strike in Tabi Tolkhel village in the North Waziristan tribal region appears to be the latest in a surge of alleged U.S. missile strikes on Pakistani territory.
More than 30 strikes, most in the country’s northwest, near the Afghan border, have been reported since August.
Villager Ajab Khan said the strike set a house on fire. He said he saw two bodies and three wounded people taken away in a vehicle and that Taliban militants surrounded the house afterward.
Three local intelligence officials confirmed the account, citing informants.
