GREELEY, Colo.—Investigators are looking for the cause of an explosion that rocked a natural gas and propane plant in south Weld County, causing minor injuries to one worker.
Fire and law enforcement authorities responded to the plant outside of Fort Lupton about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday on a report of an explosion and fire at the Spindle Plant, operated by Denver-based DCP Midstream.
Weld County sheriff’s spokeswoman Margie Martinez says emergency crews evacuated a one-mile radius of the blast site as a precaution, but people were allowed to return a short time later.
Mountain View Fire Department spokesman Steve Pischke says a leak remained inside the plant even after the fire was put out.
Authorities were searching for the cause of that leak and the blast.
