RIFLE—Authorities say a 20-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his brother, who was found shot to death in his home in the Western Slope town of Rifle.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting at about 7:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, police say they found the body of 26-year-old Sam Johnston, who had been shot in the back of the head.
Police say Johnston’s brother, Heath Johnston, told them he was the shooter.
Heath Johnston was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder. He was being held at the Garfield County Jail Tuesday night on $2 million bail.
Police didn’t disclose a motive in the shooting.
