NEW YORK — Two actors — Norbert Leo Butz and William H. Macy — will replace Jeremy Piven, who has unexpectedly left the cast of the hit Broadway revival of David Mamet’s “Speed-the-Plow,” producer Jeffrey Richards announced Thursday.
Richards said Piven collapsed Monday at his home. Piven’s doctor, Carlon Colker, told Variety that the 43-year-old actor has been suffering from high levels of mercury that may have been the result of the large amounts of fish in his diet.
Piven’s spokeswoman, Samantha Mast, did not return a phone call seeking comment.
