Cablevision Systems Corp., the New York-area cable-television provider, announced plans to close its Voom high-definition programming channels and cut jobs, blaming a failed partnership with Dish Network Corp.
Cablevision decided to close Voom because of a lawsuit with EchoStar Satellite LLC, a unit of Dish, Sapan said in the memo. Voom sued for breach of contract, claiming in court papers May 28 that Douglas County-based Dish broke a 2005 agreement to distribute Voom’s 15 channels over its satellite-TV network. A Dish spokesman declined to comment.
