DENVER—Denver prosecutors say nine suspected members of the Crips gang have been indicted on charges they burned down a Denver shopping center in retaliation for the killing of local Crips founder Michael Asberry.

District Attorney Mitch Morrissey and police said Friday that the arson early May 18 was captured by a camera on a nearby library.

The indictment says members of the rival Bloods gang hung out around the shopping center.

A day before the fire, Asberry was killed outside an Aurora apartment building by an unknown assailant. The indictment says the fire was set after Crips and Bloods members had a confrontation outside a night club.

The defendants face charges including arson and criminal mischief.
