DENVER—Sometime on Tuesday, the 50 millionth passenger of the year is expected to travel through Denver International Airport, and Mayor John Hickenlooper plans to be on hand to greet that person.

The airport opened Feb. 28, 1995, with a capacity for serving 50 million passengers a year.

This would be the first year 50 million travelers have passed through the airport, topping the record set last year of 49.8 million.

The airport is marking the milestone with a news conference with Hickenlooper and will pass out commemorative items to passengers on hand.
