Alek’s Controllable Christmas Lights went viral when webfans learned about the interactive feature of Lafayette resident Alek O. Komarnitsky’s extravagant holiday display. Then he fessed up to a rotating on/off sequence. In 2005, he made the website truly interactive, revving up both traffic and donations for celiac disease research.

Magazine publisher Terry Vitale compiled this coffee- table book of quotes, photographs and minimal text. Christmas traditions in mountain towns from Aspen to Vail receive lush photos and glowing text, with a Front Range nod to Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo. The resort towns sparkle brightest.

A while ago, Carbondale resident Glenn Griggs learned that the Snowmass ski resort was about to send some chairlift seats to a scrap yard. He persuaded the resort to donate 100 chairs to Carbondale Community School. He gave another 30 or so to Denver School of the Arts. With some modifications, they convert into great swings.
