The metro area should get a dusting of snow overnight, maybe even a couple of inches, before the thermometer drops toward zero by dawn Saturday.

The National Weather Service predicts that temperatures on Saturday will climb into the mid-teens, but then drop well below zero Saturday night and Sunday morning. At dawn Sunday, temperatures could be as low as 7 below.

The same forecast holds true for the eastern plains, according to the weather service.

Broncos’ fans should bundle up tight for the 2:05 p.m. kickoff Sunday at Invesco Field against the Buffalo Bills, who will be right at home in the frigid weather. Temperatures Sunday will climb into the mid-teens, with plenty of sunshine and dry air.

Powder skiing should be glorious this weekend with 5-10 inches of dry, fresh snow predicted tonight through the central and northern mountains, from Aspen to Steamboat Springs. The Eisenhower Tunnel could receive up to 10 inches tonight, according to the NWS.

But winds will be strong both Saturday and Sunday, posing a severe hazard for exposed skin. The wind chill effect will be well below zero both days, particularly at altitude.
