Broncos pass rushers have accounted for three sacks in the last six weeks. Four times in those six games, the Broncos walked away empty-handed.
If that trend continues in the playoffs, don’t count on the playoff ride lasting very long.
More and more, it’s looking like the Colts and Broncos will hook up in the opening round of the playoffs at Invesco Field at Mile High. Nothing is official, of course, what with the Broncos not having clinched the AFC West, but that’s the way it’s looking.
If so, the Broncos might want to put some pressure on the Colts’ quarterback. You remember him. Archie Manning’s kid. Does a lot of TV commercials. Yeah, that guy.
Peyton Manning may have wrapped up his latest MVP award Thursday night, when he completed 29 out of 34 passes for three touchdowns against the Jaguars on national TV. Not only that, he’s on a roll, what with the Colts having won eight straight after an injury-filled, inconsistent first part of the season.
Peyton Manning at Invesco Field — if history is any indication, that’s not a pretty picture for the Broncos. If they’re going to contain him, they had better plan to put some heat on him.
