NORMAN, Okla. — Sam Bradford is back in his comfort zone, hanging out with his Oklahoma teammates as he returned to practice after surgery on his left, nonthrowing hand earlier this month.
On Monday, the sophomore quarterback was voted college football player of the year by The Associated Press. Bradford already captured the Davey O’Brien Award and the Heisman Trophy.
In winning the AP award, Bradford beat out the same two quarterbacks he did for the Heisman — Colt McCoy of Texas and Tim Tebow of Florida.
No. 2 Oklahoma (12-1) faces No. 1 Florida (12-1) in the BCS title game Jan. 8.

ALTA BADIA, Italy — Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic won a World Cup slalom for his second podium finish in two days on the Gran Risa course.
The top American finisher was Ted Ligety in 12th place. Bode Miller split a gate during the opening run and was disqualified. The U.S. also got a strong showing from Tim Jitloff of Reno, Nev., who was a career-best 15th.
Yankees, Wang OK deal.
Pitcher Chien-Ming Wang (8-2, 4.07 ERA) and the Yankees avoided salary arbitration when they agreed to a $5 million, one-year contract.
• Catcher Ryan Doumit and the Pirates agreed to an $11.5 million, three- year deal that includes a club option that could make the deal worth $26.5 million over five seasons.
• Starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera (8-10, 5.25) and the Nationals reached preliminary agreement on a one- year contract, pending a physical.
• The Yankees were assessed a $26.9 million luxury tax, up from $23.9 million last year and their biggest bill since paying nearly $34 million for 2005. The Tigers are the only other team that owe a luxury tax — $1.3 million — due by Jan. 31.
