Jim Greenwood, director of the Colorado Office of Consumer Counsel, is resigning.

“He just expressed a willingness to retire,” said Karen Gerwitz, a spokeswoman for the Department of Regulatory Agencies, which oversees the OCC.

Gerwitz said DORA executive director Rico Munn is expected to name a replacement soon, perhaps within a month or two. She said Greenwood has agreed to stay on board until a replacement is found.

The OCC’s mission, according to its website, is to represent the interests of residential and small-business energy and telecommunications customers by promoting affordable and reliable service.

Greenwood has served as OCC director since December 2004. Prior to that, Greenwood was a rate and financial analyst with the OCC from 2001 through November 2004. He worked for Colorado Interstate Gas Co., a natural-gas pipeline company, from July 1974 to April 2001.
