A freight train hit a semi-truck this morning at the South Kalamath Street and West Bayaud Avenue railroad crossing. No one was hurt in the accident, which occurred at about 9:43 a.m., according to the Denver Fire Department.

The truck also struck a power pole, knocking it off kilter. About 100 customers were without power for about two hours, said Xcel Energy spokesman Mark Stutz.

The train was heading southbound when the truck made a right turn into the crossing.

“He was turning in and, somehow, the arm was coming down and he tried to move out of the way but didn’t make it,” said Denver police spokeswoman Sharon Avendano.

The train clipped the rear of the truck.
