Getting your player ready...

FORT WORTH, Texas — Air Force coach Troy Calhoun put his team through its first practice session at TCU’s practice facility Saturday morning in preparation for Wednesday’s meeting with Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Calhoun said all of his players arrived from Christmas break to take part in practice. Houston was scheduled to arrive Saturday afternoon and will have its first practice session today.

Saturday’s practice allowed Calhoun to assess the performance of several players on the injured list.

“We’re in full force,” Calhoun said. “Todd Newell is the one player right now that I would say is doubtful.”

Newell, a senior fullback, led the Falcons in rushing with 594 yards and scored four touchdowns. He’s hobbled with an injured ankle.

Otherwise, Calhoun said he saw progress by receiver Kyle Halderman (mononucleosis), linebacker Patrick Hennessey (shoulder) and linebacker Brandon Reeves (shoulder).

Calhoun said he would probably decide today if Reeves can start against Houston. If not, junior Justin Moore will get the call.
