FORT COLLINS — The founders of Fort Collins’ Bas Bleu and OpenStage theaters want supporters to know that neither faces imminent shutdown, despite a well-intentioned but unauthorized e-mail that began circulating Saturday morning.
Headlined “Don’t Let Live Theater Die in Northern Colorado,” the e-mail from Don Kraus warned that “both companies have come to a financial crisis, threatening each with the possibility of ceased operation. . . . Unless you come to their aid right now, each company could be out of business within the first few months of the coming year.”
The founders of both OpenStage and Bas Bleu admit their financial problems are real but called the entreaty an overreaction. Neither wanted its problems — manageable, both say — to be presented to the public in this way.
