One person was killed and a second person injured in shootings near West Ninth Avenue and Kalamath Street early Tuesday morning, Denver police said.

Police spokeswoman Sharon Avendaño said two groups of people were involved in an argument that turned physical about 2:15 a.m., and shots were fired. She said two men were taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where one of them died.

The condition of the second person was not available.

Denver’s chief deputy coroner, Michelle Weiss-Samaras, told The Associated Press that the man who died was 25 years old and Latino. She said the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
