MISSOULA, Mont.—Portland State guard Jeremiah Dominguez has been selected the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball player of the week after leading the Vikings to a pair of victories, including a stunning upset of seventh-ranked Gonzaga.
The 5-foot-6 senior from Salem, Ore., averaged 20 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game in leading the Vikings to wins over Gonzaga and Texas Southern. Dominguez shot 52 percent form the field, 53 percent from 3-point range and 87 percent from the free-throw line.
The 77-70 upset of Gonzaga last week in Spokane was Portland State’s first victory against a ranked opponent, and the first victory for a Big Sky team over a ranked team since Montana defeated No. 20 Nevada in the first round of the 2006 NCAA tournament.
