Life for the employees of the Greens & Grains grocery store doesn’t promise to get any easier — or any less funny — as “10 Items or Less” returns for its third season.
The late-night TBS comedy, which relies on both scripts and improvisation, stars co-creator John Lehr as Leslie Pool, the dedicated but hapless manager who’s facing new challenges at the store he inherited.
Foremost among them: rival SuperValueMart’s continuing effort to drive Greens & Grains out of business.
Heading the effort is Mercedes “Mercy” P. Jones (Kim Coles of “In Living Color”), also known ominously as The Velvet Hammer.
Leslie is determined to protect the staff, including produce diva Yolanda (Roberta Valderrama); maintenance man Carl (Bob Clendenin), father of Yolanda’s son; and butcher Todd (Chris Payne Gilbert), a favorite with the ladies.
But Leslie’s shopping cart is full of potential pickles.
The powerful Dairy Consortium is casting a shadow over Greens & Grains, a big sale goes awry and there’s a shoplifter afoot with family connections to a store worker.
The show airs on Tuesdays.
Other shows to look out for: Ah, the celebrity, the money, the parties; if only they weren’t decades past for idols of the 1980s and ’90s.
But VH1 wants to give once-beloved hunks of TV and film another shot at fame, hence “Confessions of a Teen Idol.”
The eight-part Sunday-night series features Christopher Atkins (“The Blue Lagoon”), David Chokachi (“Baywatch”), Billy Hufsey (“Fame”) and Jeremy Jackson (“Baywatch”).
There’s also Eric Nies (“The Real World,”), Jamie Walters (“Beverly Hills 90210”), and Adrian Zmed (“TJ Hooker”).
The men, who tasted varying degrees and duration of success, become housemates to ponder their personal and professional missteps and try to regain the public’s affection.
Also: Wondering just what goes on in the world of Louisiana’s “premiere extermination family,” as the Bretherton clan is billed by A&E?
Tune into the new reality show “The Exterminators” on Wednesdays, as they rescue clients bedeviled by the likes of ant colonies, snakes, thousands of bats in a stadium and a pet-eating bobcat.
The family running the business includes Billy, a former U.S. Air Force sergeant who favors a military approach to pest control, his feisty mom, Donnie, and droll dad Bill.
A&E promises that the mix of energy and humor in the 13-episode series will keep “even the most squeamish viewer along for the ride.” Watch out for motion sickness.
