DENVER—Gov. Bill Ritter has appointed Tammy K. Green of Littleton as a district judge in the 1st Judicial District, which serves Jefferson and Gilpin counties.

Green has been the presiding judge for the city of Edgewater since January 2008.

She also has served as a prosecuting attorney and a sole practitioner, and has provided relief judge services to the cities of Aurora, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Westminster, Thornton and Boulder.

Green earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa in 1985 and her law degree from the University of Illinois in 1988.

Her appointment is effective Jan. 13 and is for a provisional term of two years. If approved by voters, she can serve additional six-year terms.

The salary for a district judge is $128,598.
