DENVER—An insurance association says damage from a windstorm this week is estimated to be one of the costliest ever in the state.
The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association says the strong winds that hit the Front Range, Colorado Springs, the Eastern Plains and southern Wyoming Tuesday resulted in almost 2,500 claims totaling about $7 million. Insurance officials there was some major damage reported but most of the claims are from minor damage to cars, roofs and fences.
The RMIIA says one of the costliest windstorms happened in April 1999, when $20 million in claims was paid out for damages along the Front Range. A 1982 windstorm in Boulder County also caused $20 million.
