KATMANDU, Nepal — Officials say dozens of people are missing after an overcrowded boat capsized in a river in eastern Nepal.

Government administrator Durga Bhandari said more than 50 people are believed to have been on board the boat and only six have been rescued from the Saptakosi river.

Bhandari said police and local fishermen were searching for survivors but fog and cold weather made their work difficult.

The Saptakosi river is about 250 miles southeast of the capital Katmandu.
