While multiple blue-chip football recruits chose to make their college intentions known Saturday at the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Legacy’s Nick Kasa simply enjoyed a long, knowing smile.
His commitment to Florida, which will play for the BCS national title Thursday night, never seemed better in any crowd.
“Definitely,” Kasa said. “When people found out, they were, like, ‘Whoa, this Colorado boy is going to Florida.’ ”
Kasa’s West team fell to the East 30-17 in the annual gathering of elite schoolboys.
He wanted to record more tackles from his defensive end spot, but the chance to meet great players from across the nation, including future teammates, is something that will stay with him forever and prepare him for what lies ahead as a Gator.
“It was great,” The Denver Post 2008 defensive player of the year said. “It was actually tough, but nothing like college will be.”
