LINCOLN, Neb.—Ade Dagunduro scored 18 points and Nebraska opened the second half with a 13-4 run to put away Maryland-Eastern Shore 88-56 on Saturday.
Nebraska (9-3) scored a season-high 88 points, hitting 61 percent of its shots.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-8) was the 12th Cornhusker opponent to be held to 66 points or fewer this season. The Hawks hit just 41 percent of their shots against Nebraska’s nationally ranked defense.
The Huskers’ defense forced 16 Hawks turnovers, 12 of them steals. Those turnovers yielded 23 points for Nebraska.
Nebraska turned the ball over just three times, which resulted in 4 points for Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Nebraska dominated the game inside, scoring 44 points in the paint to 18 for Maryland-Eastern Shore. The Huskers got 17 second-chance points off 11 offensive rebounds and outraced the Hawks 14-2 in fast-break points.
The Huskers led 40-28 at the half and put the game out of reach with a 13-4 spurt opening the second, capped by Brandon Richardson’s 3-pointer from the corner that made the score 53-32 with 14:47 remaining.
Nebraska’s largest lead came on Toney McCray’s dunk that put Huskers up 81-45.
Joining Dagunduro in double figures for Nebraska was Steve Harley with 12 points. Twelve Huskers scored in the game.
Neal Pitt led Maryland-Eastern Shore with 18 points. Chris Conner added 11 for the Hawks.
