A truck driver on Interstate 70 called 911 on Sunday to report being shot in the head, but the driver was actually injured by a piece of concrete that had smashed through the truck’s window, authorities said.

The concrete, about the size of a loaf of bread, slammed through the driver’s side window of the Freightliner semi-truck near the town of Eagle about 2 p.m., according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

The male driver, who was not identified, was treated at Vail Valley Medical Center and released. He is from Washington state.

“It’s incredible it would go through a window and hit him in the head while he’s driving,” said Shannon Cordingly, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The Denver Post
