EAGLE, Colo.—Authorities say a chunk of concrete burst through the driver-side window of a moving 18-wheeler in Colorado and struck the trucker in the head.
Eagle County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said Monday the driver was treated and released at a hospital. Investigators haven’t released his name but say he’s from Washington state.
Cordingly says the 2-pound, 5-by-6-inch chunk shattered the window at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. The driver was eastbound on Interstate 70 about 100 miles west of Denver.
Cordingly says investigators don’t know whether the concrete was thrown and are trying to determine what happened.
She says the driver called 911, thinking he’d been shot. Cordingly says he didn’t remember anything since that morning.
