Thursday’s championship game between Florida and Oklahoma is a big game, but big enough to shut down Congress? Rep. Cliff Stearns hopes so. Stearns, a Republican from Ocala, Fla., wrote to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asking her to move votes scheduled for Thursday night and Friday so House members from Florida and Oklahoma can go to the game in Miami. In a message to Pelosi, Stearns wrote: “Madam Speaker — Kindly consider. Thanks, Cliff.” The Associated Press
